Situtated on the Western shore of Holy Loch, the hamlet of Strone boasts a post office/general store, public house, small hotel and churches of various denominations. It is approached from Greenock either via ferry to Hunter's Quay or Dunoon.

The journey across the Clyde takes about 15-20 minutes. Alternatively, Strone can be approached by the longer, but spectacularly scenic route, by driving north from Glasgow along the shores of Lochs Lomond, Fyne and Eck.
